Create an Accent Wall-One thing I noticed while going through the Parade of Homes is that almost every room in every house had some kind of accent wall. This got me thinking of my own house. What rooms do I have that have accent walls in them? Can you think of your house? Do you have any accent walls? If the answer is no you really should add some. Not only does it add to the overall design of your home, but it can make a huge difference. The accent wall you see in this picture was amazing. I went home and tried to make one similar to it for my boys room.
Add Curtains-Believe it or not, curtains are a very important part to a room. They not only add style and design, but they help add to the overall flow of the room. The simple black curtains you see in the picture are just what the interior decorator needed to pull the entire room together. Imagine if those curtains weren’t there how boring the room would be. Curtains in any room are definitely needed.
Add Marquee Letters Above the Beds-Now for my favorite step. The designer for this home added Heidi Swapp Marquee signs above each bed to really make the room pop. I am obsessed with these letters! If you have never seen them before I get mine at https://www.craftdirect.com/heidi-swapp.html. You can then take the marquee letters you get from them and tweak them however you would like. You can add paint, embellishments or whatever. These Marquee letters are a lot of fun & perfect for home decor in any room.
Don’t Go Overboard-As you can see by looking at the picture, this designer kept things nice and simple. The room doesn’t look cluttered with too many items or home decor, it looks sleek, stylish & CLEAN!! This is huge for me. I hate going in houses that have too much going on to where the room looks dirty. If you are changing around your boys or any room in your house try not to go overboard on the decorating.
I’m in the process of creating this room for my two boys. I can’t wait until it’s finished. I completely love how it looks and can’t wait to see the looks on my boys faces when they finally get to see the finished product.
